Servicing and maintaining your vehicle is the best way to keep it running its best. At Lightning Automotive, our mechanics are highly trained and skilled in all types of servicing and can service all makes and models.
The most common service we see at Lightning Automotive, is the general engine oil service or oil change. This service is recommended every 6 months or 10,000kms.
In this service you can expect an engine flush, an oil filter and an oil change. We also carry out a general safety check and general maintenance check. In this check, we inspect all your other fluids in your vehicle. Coolant, transmission or gear box fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid etc and let you know whether any of these fluids require attention.
Your spark plugs, air filter, brake system, suspension, tyres, engine mounts and drive belts are also check in this inspection.
Any recommendations that the technician has, will be passed on to you and you will have the option of carrying out any additional services or repairs. We WILL NOT carry out any additional work without your prior consent.
A transmission service is a filter (if applicable) and fluid change on your automatic transmission. Transmission fluid lubricates, cools and cleans internal components of the transmission. It also helps to maintain the hydraulic pressure necessary for the transmission to operate correctly. Changing your transmission fluid when recommended promotes smooth shifting and reduces the risk of premature transmission failure.
Intervals for a transmission service vary from vehicle to vehicle.
Old and neglected power steering fluid affects the performance of your vehicle’s power steering system. It can increase steering effort, reduce steering effectiveness, cause noise and harden seals, resulting in leaks and expensive repairs.
With a power steering specialist on site, we can help with all of your power steering needs.
A combustion engine (that’s your car) creates a lot of heat. The radiator has to get rid of that heat or it could do a lot of damage like warped cylinders, blown head gaskets. This is expensive to repair. Regular servicing of the cooling system, helps to prevent these issues.
